June 2017 saw the end of our award-winning NHS service in the boroughs of Havering, Barking and Dagenham. These community-based clinics, highly valued by both GPs and patients, will now no longer be provided by our team of doctors and administrators following the result of a competitive tender process.
During the term of our contract in Havering, a member of the NHS CCG executive team previously said of the Communitas service:
“The service is very responsive and all patients that are referred are seen and treated well within the four-week period that was set out in the contract, in fact, most patients are seen within two weeks. Working with the staff in the service they are always very helpful/supportive and have a can-do attitude, always going over and above. The service is always looking to improve what they offer and are open to suggestions from our GPs. The service is highly professional and patient focussed and strives to provide high-quality care.”
This decision follows the request in 2016 to expand the Communitas Clinics service from Havering into the Barking and Dagenham area due to our reputation for quality, high levels of patient satisfaction and low waiting times. It appears this highly successful service was pulled as the successful bidder was able to undercut the tariffs proposed in the Communitas bid.
